Microsoft has reached substantial settlements with 21 vendors in South Africa, who have been selling computers loaded with unlicensed Microsoft software. The actions are part of Microsoft’s Global General Software Initiative.

A company in Cyprus was fined EUR 20, 000 after being caught selling pirated software. The fine came after the Business Software Alliance in Cyprus filed a complaint against the company.

The Business Software Alliance (BSA) has expanded its reward program for people reporting software piracy. However the BSA has revealed that many report cases of piracy for ethical reasons - such as respect for intellectual property- rather than merely for financial incentives.
