Though climates vary dramatically throughout Mexico, there are many places south of the border that warrant an article on how to beat the blazing summer heat. The top five ways to put out the blaze are as follows:
1. Buy a hammock (una hamaca). Perfect for a mid-day siesta and oh so comfortable on a hot summer evening. They let air flow freely, unlike a humid mattress which can stifle body temperatures.
2. Dress like the locals... in light colored loose fitting clothing with Panama hats for the men and light shawls for the women.
3. Buy or rent a home that has high ceilings with fans, limestone walls, tiled floors and a central patio. These homes are typical in Mexico and offer an oasis from the outside heat.
4. Many homes in Mexico don't have air conditioning and if you are residing in one of those homes, do as the locals do on the most sweltering of days and find solace in air conditioned movie theatres and shopping centres.
5. Walk slowly along the shady side of the street and drink lots of water.
On August 14 the Mexican National System of Family Development stated that by the year 2050, Mexico will have over 34 million seniors. Quite an increase from the 2008 estimation of 9 million seniors.
What is Mexico doing to help support this population in coming years? Filipe Calderon Hinojosa, the Mexican president, and his secretary have created the National Geriatric Institute. The goal is to provide support to the ageing population through research, rehabilitation and medical support specifically designed for seniors. It is refreshing to see how Mexico is looking forward at providing much needed resources and support for these future populations.

http://www.ajijic-lakechapala-productions.comThe peso has been steadily rising against the dollar since June of this year - one dollar presently buys less than 10 pesos. While this gives the Mexican people more buying power and the American people less, it is up to the Bank of Mexico to determine how long these increases can hold out without the Mexican economy being terribly affected by inflation.
Despite increases in the value of the peso, Mexico still remains to be one of the most financially and socially attractive choices for retirement abroad. Don't delay, now is the time to invest in Mexico!

Pristine forests and treetop hideaways make Los Arboles Tulum an ideal getaway for environmentally aware buyers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the North American lifestyle. Located in the Yucatan Peninsula near Playa Del Carmen, bungalows built in the area take into account natural resources using local building materials and traditional building styles.
Buyers are only allowed to build on five percent of the land and are required to supply their own electricity by using solar panels or generators. Water is pumped from wells and sewage is treated in an environmentally friendly manner to prevent harm to the sensitive ecosystems in the area. The builders at The Tierra Group have also been working on another environmentally aware project in the Yucatan, ParaÃso Tan-kah. This is the first time that this type of eco-living has been explored in Mexico and the contracting company is looking optimistically into the future.
World-renowned beaches and Mayan ruins are minutes away. Some of the best scuba diving and snorkeling can be found within a fifteen minute drive from Los Arboles where underwater caves, called cenotes, have formed. Charming oceanfront restaurants and the exciting nightlife of Playa del Carmen are also close by. You may never run out of things to do outside your jungle hideaway.
