As I was making the rounds through my list of morning blogs, I found an interesting post on SEOMoz. Jane Copland made the point that far too many times newbies are shortchanged because they receive “useless” advice like, “You should create good content.” Jane names three reasons this type of advice is given. While [...]Wed, 03 Sep 2008 20:11:26 +0000
I have never shaken my head quite so much. I’ve been doing a copywriting review for a new client and have been absolutely shocked at most of their content. Before I do a review, I ask the client to complete a questionnaire. In their answers, this particular client would make comments such as, “Our [...]Tue, 02 Sep 2008 13:31:56 +0000
A very good client of mine, Mustang Web Designs, needed help with copy for a sales sheet they wanted to produce. When the owner sent me the draft she had written, one thing stood out above the rest. The copy had a few blurbs, but really needed more solid benefits.
The original version stated the [...]Thu, 28 Aug 2008 12:19:09 +0000
It’s a sure sign there’s a newbie at play. Anytime I click to a website and begin to read copy that states the obvious, I know the site owner has written his/her own copy or a copywriting novice has been at work. You know what I’m talking about. Comments like:
Candles add a warm glow [...]Thu, 28 Aug 2008 12:14:41 +0000
I just got an email from Herb at Marketing Sherpa. They have a very limited offer for those who act quick. See his note below.
Thanks for all of your support with our big moving sale push earlier in the month. It was a big success. I just found out that we still had [...]Wed, 27 Aug 2008 11:46:38 +0000
I’ve seen it all over the ‘Net lately. Website owners that resell products or services are completely missing the point and they are losing sales as a result. What’s their tragic error? Strictly promoting the company they resell for and neglecting themselves.
For instance, when doing a copywriting review for a client who is a reseller [...]Tue, 26 Aug 2008 14:36:14 +0000
I read every day, all day long so anything I can do to help me finish faster is considered a blessing. That’s why an infomercial caught my attention the other day. It was for a software program designed to help you read faster and comprehend better. It was just $14.95. “Good deal!” I thought. I [...]Thu, 21 Aug 2008 14:08:33 +0000

From the early days of search engine optimization, keywords and content have always been vital to achieving your goals. Starting back in the days when we used to shove every slightly relevant keyword into our META tags, it has been obvious that search engines love text. The more complex and sophisticated [...]Wed, 20 Aug 2008 14:27:32 +0000

It’s still a buzz industry even after all these years. Usually, with Internet marketing, someone comes up with a good idea that quickly gets abused and run into the ground. After a short burn, it dies off like a supernova. However, article distribution has held its own [...]Tue, 19 Aug 2008 14:07:03 +0000

Yesterday, I received an email from someone who’d purchased one of my ebooks. Her question was one I’ve been asked several times before: “How many instances of keywords within the copy are enough?” That’s like asking, “How long is a piece of string?” There isn’t one answer.
Proponents of [...]
