Whether you have perfectly straight teeth, or a little crooked,
a white smile makes you look healthier and younger. Teeth whitening
can be expensive and toxic. Why not whiten your teeth using an inexpensive
non-toxic method everytime you brush?
Here are a few non-toxic teeth whitening tricks:
1. Brush your teeth with food grade peroxide. It will oxygenate
and tingle and the foam will gently lift stains. You can also swish it
around before brushing and get the stains between the teeth as well.
2. Use baking soda as toothpaste. It absorbs stains and scrubs them gently away.
Peppermint or Spearmint essential oil (food grade) added to baking soda will give
you a natural abrasive, delightful tasting and inexpensive toothpaste.
So eat, drink and be merry over the holidays, and have a happy healthy smile!

Being pregnant is a very important time in your life, but more importantly it is a crucial time for your baby. We just discovered something that is very disturbing, so we wanted to share it with anyone who may be pregnant or thinking about having a baby.
Scientists have discovered that baby boys are being affected by hormone-disrupting chemicals called phthalates, which are found in plastics, perfumes and nail polish. The result is deformed genetalia which doctors have to repair. Doctors say this particular birth defect has doubled in the last 30 years.
There are several things you should avoid while being pregnant, such as microwaving plastic, using toxic fingernail polish and using commercial perfumes. There are some great non-toxic nail polish alternatives and you could substitute your favorite essential oil or essential oil blend for your current perfume. If you must microwave (we don't promote microwaving at all, but know that it makes life a little more convenient), make sure you use a glass dish and absolutely no plastic or styrofoam.
Read the article where we learned this information.
Much peace and abundance and a healthy and happy pregnancy!

Have you ever tried an avocado? Avocados are very good for you, and although they are high in fat, its the healthy monounsaturated fat that is very, very heart healthy. They also contain a plant sterol that can help lower your cholesterol not to mention more potassium then bananas, the highest fiber content of any fruit (yes, avocados are actually a fruit!) and rich amounts of Vitamins B, K, C and E. Theyre also a great source of folic acid and lutein making this perfect fruit ideal for vegetarian diets.
What are some great ways to eat avocados? Of course, the most popular one would be guacamole, but they also make a great spread for sandwiches and taste fantastic cut into chunks in a salad. We also love to make avocado, tomato and sprout sandwiches, sometimes with Morningstar Veggie Bacon or if you arent a vegetarian, regular bacon (cooked of course!). You can even cut avocados up and add the chunks to your gourmet pizza. Robin is a huge fan of avocados cut up with chunks of grapefruit. Give it a try! To keep leftover avocados from turning brown once youve cut them, try rubbing a little lemon juice on whatever is left. Lemon juice also works well if you want to keep guacamole from turning brown.
So, if you want to try the perfect healthy food, pick-up some wonderful organic or locally grown (if you live in a warm climate) avocados today!
*Please make sure to note that animals such as cats, dogs, cattle, goats, rabbits, rats, birds, fish, horses and especially humans can be severely harmed or even killed when they consume the avocado leaves, bark, skin, or pit. The avocado fruit is poisonous to birds in some cases, so feeding the fruit to birds should be avoided.Mon, 13 Oct 2008 18:21:52 GMT
It seems every time I go to the grocery store Im paying much more for much less. Im sure you all are feeling the pinch as well. Of course, we still want to eat healthy, but it seems more difficult to do that when the cost of organic foods is even more. Fortunately, there are some things we can do to save money so that we dont have to sacrifice putting healthy, organic foods on our grocery list. Here are some great tips to help you save money without sacrificing health:
1. Use coupons There are lots of coupons available for organic products. Many organic companies offer e-coupons on their websites. Look for your favorite items and see if they offer coupons.
2. Join your local co-op Yearly memberships are usually pretty minimal, and savings can be substantial.
3. Buy on sale - If something is on sale, buy a lot of it or buy it by the case. Some co-ops give discounts if you buy by the case, so youre getting a double discount, even more economical if youre a member.
4. Buy your dried goods in bulk - Oatmeal, beans, cereals, fruits, nuts and grains are all less expensive when you buy them in bulk.
5. Buy in season Buying in season ensures that there is plenty of product available, thus higher supply = lower prices.
6. Always know what you want That way you wont buy anything that isnt necessary. Make a list and follow it.
7. Keep track of your purchases Set a budget, bring a calculator and if you go over the budget figure out whats a splurge and put it back.
8. Avoid processed foods Yes, even organic can be processed. Processing costs more, so try to keep it to a minimum. Make your own bread dough and freeze it. Freeze your own veggies and squeeze your own juice. Grow your own vegetables and fruits!
9. Evaluate your spending Take a look at other purchases youre making and ask yourself if theyre absolutely necessary. Whatever you can eliminate can be used towards healthy, organic food!
10. Buy Generic Organic - Shop grocery chains that feature their own organic brand and substitute them whenever possible.
Of course you dont always have to buy organic to be environmentally friendly and healthy. If you buy produce in season and foods that are locally grown youre still looking out for the Earth. Farmers Markets may not always be organic, but the produce will be fresher because it doesnt have to be shipped cross country also lessening the environmental impact. They also require less packaging. For more great info on organic food, check out this page.
So, dont break the bank to eat healthy. Just follow these helpful tips and youll find yourself saving more then just your money!

Its that time of year again when all the little ghosts and goblins will be roaming around excitedly knocking on doors and ringing bells for that bag full of goodies. Although its very exciting for kids and adults alike, it can be a very stressful and sometimes physically dangerous time for your pet.
All the excitement, shrieks and doorbell ringing can be extremely frightening for your pet, especially if you arent home. This fear can cause wetting accidents, great anxiety and could even cause older dogs to have heart attacks.
Heres a plan of action to help you make sure your furry family member is safe and has less stress this Halloween:
1. Consider giving your pet a natural remedy to soothe their nerves.
2. Place your pet in a quiet room far from the front door and secure them with comforting toys and blankets.
3. Be sure to walk your dog before the trick-or-treaters come. This will help to avoid and accidents. Make sure you have a good hold on the leash, because your dog could be frightened by the costumes if you happen to see trick-or-treaters on the street.
4. If youre dog is normally outside, consider crating them indoors for the evening or bring them into the garage (make sure you dog-proof the garage). Not only can your dog be afraid of the trick-or-treaters, but they are also at risk for tauntings, poisoning and pet thefts. If you have an outdoor cat, please bring them in. They are especially at risk on Halloween.
5. Be very cautious of candy and wrappers, candles, jack-o-lanterns and decorations. These are all potential choking hazards. Scan your house for anything your pet could be harmed by.
6. Watch for unusual behavior in your pet in the case of accidental chocolate ingestion. Symptoms are excessive drooling, excessive urination, pupil dilation, rapid heartbeat, vomiting, diarrhea, hyperactivity, muscle tremors and seizures. Consult your vet or emergency center immediately. If you catch your pet eating chocolate, you have up to two hours to take action, but if you dont know its very important to get them to the vet. Chocolate poisoning can be fatal!

In light of the higher food prices, it seems like a great time to take up organic gardening.
If you live in certain areas, such as Florida, October is a good time to start. For those of you that are just harvesting your crops and preparing for the long winter, we suggest indoor
growing with grow lights or hydroponics.
Whatever method you choose, organic gardening will provide a wonderful way to save money and provide you and your family with fresh,
chemical free, non-pesticide ridden fruits and vegetables.

The thing I remember that stirs me most is the feeling shared afterward..we actually seemed as one...and today we see a country split right down the middle. Why should an act of terror be the catalyst for kinship between all human kind and all living beings?
Let us pause and celebrate life and our oneness in this moment.

It seems like every time I go to the grocery store I get less food for more money. Given the price of gas these days, it's really not unusual to see the price of produce soaring. After all it takes a lot of fuel to ship produce from California to Florida and it really doesn't make a lot of sense.
There are some ways to combat the rising costs. One is to buy locally grown fruits and vegetables. The other is to grow your own.
Growing your own food not only costs a lot less, but if you use sustainable practices you will know that you're getting the best you can without the use of harmful pesticides.
If you don't have a lot of room, try container gardening. Tomatos, herbs and strawberries for instance, grow well in pots. You can also try the Green Earth Box Ready-to-Grow System.
It's a maintenance-free, high-tech growing system that makes it easy to control soil conditions for less guesswork and more yields. In fact, the patented EarthBox more than doubles the yield of conventional gardens its size, with less fertilizer, less water and virtually no effort!
If you decide to grow your own food, not only will you save a lot of money, but you'll be growing good health for you and your family!

Every year there is a day to go out and do something that will impact
the Earth in a positive way. That's great, but we say let's celebrate Earth
Day everyday! The Earth is our home where we get our water and food. All
the needs that we have are met by the resources from this planet. So not just
Earth Day, but everyday we can celebrate. Change a light bulb to cfl's. Unplug
your cell phone chargers and turn off fans in rooms you dont use. Recycle,
reuse and buy cloth shopping bags for groceries. Get a water filter for your sink
so you can eliminate the use of bottled water and the plastic containers that over
run landfills. Plant a tree or pick up trash in your neighborhood. Tell a friend.
There is so much you can do everyday. Remember, its the little things that make a difference.
Be the change. Do something about it.

products to help you make a difference!
