Great tips!
At the end of the day Google AdWords all comes down to relevance and giving Googlers a good user experience!Wed, 23 Jul 2008 10:35:29 +0000
Interesting review and conclusion. Thanks for sharing.Mon, 10 Mar 2008 12:00:04 +0000
The traffic can certainly vary a lot, particularly if you're in an industry where seasonality (or even the weather) is a factor.
I'd strongly recommend that everyone monitors their campaigns on a daily basis anyway - it only takes 5 minutes per day to make sure that everything is as it should be.
One possible reason for your problem could be Broad Matching. If you bid on a keyword on broad match, it may be that it suddenly starts appearing on a not-very-relevant search via Expanded Matching, which generates a lot of impressions and clicks, but few conversions.
You may want to check whether the additional traffic came through a single keyword - if so, then pause that, rather than the whole campaign...Sun, 09 Mar 2008 19:05:38 +0000
Adwords is quite helpful but needs regular monitoring. Sometimes the click rate jumps up - in one of my campaigns it goes up even above 10% without any conversion in Adsense! I had reported this sudden surge to Google's team but there was no response. At that time i am forced to pause the campaign a day or two. So please be watchful.Wed, 23 Jan 2008 10:45:29 +0000
Hi Annabel
Are you looking at the list of keywords? The Quality Score/Minimum Bid is still an option. If you're not seeing it, make sure you aren't looking at the list of Adgroups?

Hi there - I think the Quality Score has been removed. It was there last month but I'm just setting up a new campaign and I don't see it in my hide/show customisations....oh no...Thu, 17 Jan 2008 09:18:58 +0000
Absolutely - most of the reasons to advertise using Adwords also apply to Yahoo! as well.
This page could just as easily have been titled "Why Should I Advertise Using PPC", but I stand by the last paragraph, that Adwords will generate the most traffic, and that you have more control over your campaign than using Yahoo! or MSN.

I thought with Pandora, Yahoo SM was going to look at quality of pages as well. Is this no longer the case?Mon, 07 Jan 2008 15:41:08 +0000
Hmm... Can't see them letting that sort of information slip in a debate...Mon, 07 Jan 2008 09:07:10 +0000
I think you are right there Steve, most of the top searches nowadays are 'navigational searches' as explained during the various SMX's. People search for domain names a lot, and people searching for google.com in google is no exception. (!)
It would be interesting to have a look at the daily volume of searches in order to try and evaluate the exact amount of navigational searches taking place on search engines in orer to understand the 80:20 ratio better.
