Parmigiani Fleurier (a Swiss Fine Watch brand) which has entered into an ambitious partnership with Pershing, a Ferretti Group brand and builders of prestigious Italian luxury yachts, to develop the first range of Pershing aquatic sports watches.
This partnership - a result of shared entrepreneurial excellence -- made it possible for Parmigiani to launch its innovative aquatic timekeeper. For several years the high-end watch maker had wanted to develop a distinct collection characterised by highly sporty lines and volumes. Thus there could not have been a better route for Parmigiani Fleurier than allying its technical expertise with Pershing.
The Pershing collection is the starting point of a long-term association that may also be manifested in more advanced collaborations in creating timekeepers customised to a yacht or a customer's wishes. Probing the complex world of a perpetually moving watchmaking mechanism or exploring the mysteries of the ocean depths requires an absolute knowledge of one's art. Thus the time manufacturer was destined to meet the naval manufacturer…”
The Pershing collection comprises two different lines: The first one is the limited edition ‘one-one-five’, available in 18 carat rose gold and 950 Palladium comes in two dial versions, tan and silver, each of 115 pieces, incorporating the self-winding chronograph movement Calibre PF 190.
It has been created in honour of the biggest and most prestigious Pershing vessel, measuring 115 feet which can be found engraved on the watch case-back. It is an echo of the finest rare wood varieties or refined leatherwork in a yacht's interior furnishings.
The second line is the Pershing Chronographs collection, available in steel with four dial variants, and is non-limited edition. The special form of the numerals on the dial is in the spirit ofthe Pershing logotype. The models incorporate all the style codes now connected to the brand, thus retaining a classic appearance.
The emblematic curve of its loops, the ‘Delta’ shaped hands, the dial colours and decorations, the refinement of the finishes along with all the components of the chronograph movement. It comes in four dial versions: graphite, silver, blu metal and amaranth.
This steel-only piece is inspired by the silvery reflections of Pershing yacht hulls, an emblematic, instantly recognisable colour of the Italian brand. The steel metal exhibits contrasts between the satin-finished loops and shiny watch middle band.
It incorporates the new Parmigiani ‘house’ self-winding chronograph movement Calibre PF 334, completely developed by the Fleurier manufacture. Available with a rubber strap or steel bracelet, it is also water resistant to 200 metres, and has a rotary bezel and engraved case-back representing one of Pershing's flagship models.
The new collections are now available at Parmigiani Boutique, Dubai, on level one of the New Retail Extension in Wafi Mall.

Audemars Piguet introduces the Ladies’ Jules Audemars collection. These white or pink gold models combine a 29 mm case, revamped silver-coloured or white mother-of-pearl dials and moiré satin straps. Each features an hour circle punctuated with Roman numerals, while the centre is graced with either a spiral flinqué or diamond-pavé motif. The small seconds at 6 o’clock adds a majestic touch to the overall visual effect.
Paying splendid tribute to feminine beauty, the Ladies’ Jules Audemars collection is available in several different versions - from the simplest interpretation to the more elaborate models, these watches are fitted with shimmering straps in chocolate brown for pink gold cases and black or midnight blue for white gold.
The first is elegantly understated and the absence of gem-setting accentuates the perfection of the white or pink gold case, as well as the purity of the dial with its unusual design.

The second is adorned with a gem-set bezel echoing the small seconds dial, itself adorned with diamonds.

The third extremely chic variation features entirely gem-set cases, a mother-of-pearl dial with a pavé centre and an ultimate touch of refinement in the shape of a crown adorned with a rose-cut diamond.
The diamonds used to set Audemars Piguet watches are all of Top Wesselton IF (Internally Flawless) quality.

The 31 year-old English sailor already has three Olympic medals to his credit. At the height of his career, Ben Ainslie becomes a Corum ambassador and is determined to continue his success winning his fourth medal.
Immersed in the world of sailing since his childhood years, Ben Ainslie began sailing at the age of 8, winning his first World Championship at 16. The sailor and the Swiss watch brand Corum go back quite a way; the company were his first ever sponsor making him the proud owner of a Corum watch when he began his professional sailing career at the age 17.
In Beijing, Ben will be defending his national colours racing the Men’s single-handed heavy weight Finn dinghy a boat he is well acquainted with, having already won five World Championship titles in the Finn. He has also been closely involved with the America’s Cup. After an initial campaign with One World in 2000, he joined Team New Zealand as helmsman in 2004. In 2007, Ben was appointed skipper of Team Origin.

A passionate devotee of sailing and the sea in general, Ben is also a watch connoisseur and collector. He was won over by the Admiral’s Cup Tides from Corum because this model combines both a world-exclusive complication and an indispensable sailing instrument.
For coastal regions with a twice-daily lunar cycle (in which the sea rises and falls every 12 hours and 25 minutes on average), the Admiral’s Cup Tides 48 provides all the key information on tides: the lunar cycles and the strength of the tide, an estimation of water levels, the strength of the currents, and the time of the tides.
The three different mechanisms composing the tides movement called for around three years of development between 1988 and 1991. In cooperation with the Geneva Astronomical Observatory and the SHOM (Hydrographic and Oceanographic Department of the French Navy) in Brest, which confirmed its remarkable precision.
The CORUM CO-277 Tides movement is an exclusive complicated movement endowed with several functions that are visible on the watch dial through three separate counters.
The counter at 12 o’clock indicates the various states of the moon, thereby reproducing its position in relation to the earth and the sun and defining the strengths of the tides that are expressed by coefficients 95-120 and 20-45. When the moon, the earth and the sun are perfectly aligned, the attraction exercised by the earth and the strength of the tides are at their peak. Tides are weaker in other situations. The counter at 6 o’clock indicates the times of low and high tides over a 24-hour period (meaning 2 low tides and 2 high tides per day).
The rising and falling tide indications are displayed at 9 o’clock, as well as the intensity of the current. The intensity of the tide is strongest when the hand is lined up with the red line.
As one of the major complications mastered by Corum, the exclusive Admiral’s Cup Tides movement puts the brand right up among the finest names in the watchmaking world.
Corum is supporting Ben Ainslie and wishes him the best of luck in winning his fourth Olympic medal in the 29th Olympic Games in Beijing, and a chance to distinguish himself in his discipline by going for gold !

It started with two professionals doing what they do best: the first, premier photographer Greg Williams, was taking pictures of the second, George Clooney in Tokyo for luxury Swiss watchmaker Omega. George Clooney was . . . being George Clooney.
Greg Williams, who is known both as one of the world’s best behind-the-scenes entertainment photographers and as a photojournalist of exceptional ability, captured the moment on film: the world’s sexiest man, looking slightly less glamorous than usual, wearing a watchmaker’s loupe and lab coat, staring intently at the camera. Along with “movie star” images of George Clooney, Omega was delighted to see their brand ambassador cast convincingly in the role of watchmaker. Slightly tongue-in-cheek recruitment copy was added to the image under the headline, “Watchmakers wanted”, inviting skilled applicants to consider challenging positions at Omega.
Interviewed later about his foray into watchmaking, George Clooney said, “I think that the watchmakers down there felt a little uneasy with my skill. They started off with, ‘Yeah, let’s let George come in and play around’ but after I put three or four of the watches together I think they realized that perhaps they were in for some heavy competition.”

A new collection by Audemars Piguet will be presented at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva, from April 7-12, 2008: the Ladies' Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph and Lady Royal Oak in pink gold.
Audemars Piguet treats its Lady Royal Oak and Ladies' Royal Oak Offshore to the beauty of pink gold. Often used in ancient times to sheathe pyramids and obelisks, gold was considered the flesh of the gods, symbolising radiance and fertility. Stemming from a copper-rich alloy, it takes on shimmering rosy tints. The Lady Royal Oak and Ladies' Royal Oak Offshore watches, from the sportiest to the smartest, now come clothed in these warm, gentle shades, magnifying every moment and each occasion. To borrow the words of the great Edith Piaf song La Vie en Rose (Life in Pink), "worries and sorrows fade away". This is the model that accompanied Lewis Gordon Pugh throughout his voyage to the North Pole.
Limited to only 50 pieces, this watch is equipped with the “Solar Navigator” navigation system which allows easy orientation based on the position of the sun and shade. All 50 watches travelled with the explorers to the North Pole and functioned perfectly after withstanding the extreme temperatures.
Twenty-first century adventurers have long awaited a sporty and elegant watch that enables them to tackle the challenges of modern life. This limited edition watch is designed to meet the expectations of the most demanding connoisseurs, both in terms of its functions and its modern appearance.
The choice of British Racing Green as the dominant colour for this watch harks back to the illustrious British racing cars around at the turn of the last century, and gives the piece a chic, sporty appeal. The use of the colour green also highlights Lewis Pugh's environmental campaign and his aim to raise general awareness of the issue of global warming.
The movement itself remains faithful to the Villemont tradition by meeting the highest standards in terms of testing and water-resistance. In terms of its appearance, the bridge of the rotor and the oscillating weight are fully decorated with the "Clou de Villemont", the brand's distinctive V-shaped pattern, and these are visible via a transparent sapphire case-back.
The bezel featuring the Solar Navigation System - an essential tool for explorations in extreme conditions and a manual alternative to the universal GPS system - enables the wearer to navigate in all conditions without having to rely on batteries or the position of satellites. It works simply by aligning the number on the bezel corresponding to the hour indicated on the dial with the hour hand. For example, if it is 15:00 (3pm), position the bezel so that the number 15 on the bezel is opposite the hour hand (at 3 o'clock). The sun symbol R is then opposite the SW mark on the dial; which indicates that the sun is in the southwest. The other cardinal points can then be easily calculated.
MSRP is $9, 900.

Celebrated in India as the “Face of a New Generation”, actress Deepika Padukone has signed an agreement with Tissot to become the brand’s ambassador in India and the “Face of Tissot” worldwide. The cooperation starts in December just after the worldwide launch of the big Bollywood movie ‘Om Shanti Om’ in which Deepika plays a leading role. This is the first time that the Swiss watch brand has chosen an Indian ambassador and underlines the importance that Tissot places on this dynamic market. Deepika is one of India’s most sought-after actresses and an international model.

Deepika is multi-talented, hard working, dynamic and always open to new ideas - characteristics that perfectly complement the world of multi-facetted, innovative Tissot. She was drawn to Tissot through her admiration of the company’s 154 years of watch making history and its international reach as the traditional Swiss watch brand with the highest volume. Tissot already enjoys great acclaim on the Indian market with its diverse, top quality collection appealing to the discerning Indian taste. This collaboration will support and grow this popularity, benefiting both parties.
As an authority on beauty and good taste, Deepika was particularly attracted to the Tissot ladies’ collection, describing these timepieces as “really the most appropriate feminine fashion accessories”. Before starting her acting and modeling career, she played badminton for India, winning state level tournaments in doubles and singles, and played state level baseball and basketball. As such she also greatly appreciates the proven sporting character of many of the Tissot watches with their leading technology and cutting-edge design.
Tissot, the ‘Innovators by Tradition’, has been pioneering craftsmanship and innovation since its foundation in 1853. Today Tissot is a member of the Swatch Group, the world’s largest watch producer and distributor.
