Seafood Estofado Recipe

Ingredients:
- 1/4 Kg Shrimps
- 150 g Squid, ink sac & pen removed, sliced
- 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Del Monte White Vinegar
- 1/4 tsp Pepper
- 1-1/2 tsp Sugar
- 1/2 to 3/4 tsp Grated ginger
- 1 pouch Del Monte recipe sauce (Menudo, Estofado, Afritada)
- 1 pc medium Potato, cut into small chunks
- 1 pc medium Carrots, cut into small chunks
Procedure:
- Marinate shrimps and squids in soy sauce, del monte vinegar, pepper, sugar and ginger for 10 minutes. Drain and reserve marinade.
- Combine 1/4 cup water, del monte classic recipe sauce, marinade, potato, carrot and 1/2 iodized fine salt (or 1/2 tbsp iodized rock salt). Simmer for 10 minutes. Add shrimps and squid. Cook for another 5 minutes.
Makes 4 servings.

This process is similar when buying a diamond. The diamond’s beauty, rarity and price depends on the 4Cs: Cut, Clarity, Carat, and Color.
4Cs are used to determine the rarity of diamonds. With the highest combination of the 4Cs, it is more rare and consequently more expensive.
Once you know about those 4Cs, you will be able to buy or ask the jeweler what exactly do you want.
4Cs Diamond Guide

Cut - Refers to the angle and proportions of a diamond.
It’s the nature that deterimes so much about diamon, but a master cutter can trully reveal it’s brilliance, fire and ultimate beauty.
A well-cut diamond will internally reflect light from one mirror-like facet to another and disperse and reflect it through the top of the stone. Diamonds that are cut too deep or too shallow loose or leak light through its side or bottom, which results to less brilliance and value.
Cut also refers to the shape - round, square, pear or heart. Since round a round diamond is symmetrical and capable of reflecting nearly all the light that enters, it is the most brilliant of all shapes and follows specific proportional guidelines.
Non-round shapes, also known as “fancy shapes, ” will have their own guidelines to be considered well-cut.

Clarity - Refers to the presence of inclusions in a diamond.
Every diamond is unique. Inclusions are natural identifying characteristics of diamond, such as minerals or fractures appearing while diamonds are formed in the earth. They may look like tiny crystals. clouds or feathers.
To view the inclusions, jewelers use a magnifying loupe. This tool allows them to see a diamond 10x of its actual size so inclusions are easier to see. The position of inclusions affect the value od a diamond. There are very few flawless diamonds found in nature, thus these diamonds are much more valuable.
Inclusions are ranked on a scale of perfection, known as clarity. The clarity scale ranges from F (Flawless) to Included (I) and based on the visibility of inclusions at a magnification of 10x.
Inclusions can also be hidden by a mounting, thus having little effect on the beauty of a diamond. An inclusion in the middle or top could impact the dispersion of light, sometimes making the diamond less brilliant.

Carat - Refers to the weight of a diamond.
Carat is often confused with size even though it is actually the weight. 1 carat = 200 milligrams. 1 carat can also be divided into 100 points. A .75 carat diamond is the same as 75-points or 3/4 carat diamond.
If you think that a 1 carat diamond is equal to 2 half-carat diamond, well you’re wrong. A large diamond are found less frequently in nature, which makes them at the rarest level of all. Therefore, a 1 carat diamond always more expensive than 2 half-carat diamonds.

Color - Refers to the degree to which a diamond is colorless.
Diamonds are found in almost every color of the rainbow, but white-colored diamonds remain most popular.
Diamonds are graded on a color scale established and ranges from D (colorless) to Z. Warmer colored diamonds (K-Z) are particularly desirable when set in yellow gold. Icy winter whites (D-J) look stunning set in white gold or platinum.
Color differences are very subtle and it is very difficult to see the difference between, say, an E and an F. Therefore colors are graded under controlled lighting conditions are are compared to a master set for accuracy.
Truly colorless stones (D), treasured for their rarity, are highest of them all, however, ultimately comes down to personal taste.
Nature has also created diamonds in intense shades of yellow, blue, green, orange, pink or red. These are called “colored fancies” and are extremely rare and highly treasured.

Our 3-days stay at the hotel..
Sun, 29 Jun 2008 16:38:21 +0000At long last! After our 3-days stay at Astoria Plaza, we’re now back at our place. Hubby’s birthday get-together party is over. And so as the inuman!
It was a great stay. Everything is superb. I hope our guests love the dishes I prepared for them. Drinks are also free-flowing.. San Mig Light, Red Horse Beer, Gilby’s, Tres Cepas and Softdrinks for the non-alcoholic guests.
The hotel accommodation is also great! We got this mini break from our club membership in Club Astoria. It is also one of the affiliated hotels of RCI, the largest timeshare network in the world. They have friendly staffs, great room decorations, great housekeeping and well, a superb service, I can say. At 1 to 10, I’m willing to give them 9, of course even with great service, there is always something to improve. We’re humans! We don’t get satisfied that fast! Hahaha!
Lumpiang Shanghai Recipe

You can even store it in the freezer for days and it will still taste good. If you wish to include it in your meal, you can just fry it right away. Aside from the usual meal, this is also good for parties.
Lumpiang Shanghai
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
- 1 1/2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 (16 ounce) package spring roll wrappers
- 1 1/2 quarts oil for frying
Procedure:
- In a Large bowl, combine ground pork, ground beef, onion, and carrot. Make sure to completely mix everything. I suggest getting down and dirty and use your hands. Knead the meat in the bowl if you must. Gradually blend in the soy sauce , black pepper, garlic powder, and salt until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Lay out a few wrappers at a time on a flat surface, and place about 2 tablespoons of the filling in a line down the center of the wrapper. Make sure the filling is no thicker than your thumb, or the wrapper will cook faster than the meat. Take the bottom and top edges of the wrapper and fold them towards the center. Take the left and right sides, and fold them towards the center. Moisten the last edge of the wrapper to seal. Now repeat using the rest of the wrappers, and have hubby or the kids help you out.
- Heat the oil in a deep-fryer or heavy skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Fry 3 or 4 lumpia at a time. Fry for about 3 or 4 minutes, turning once. Lumpia are cooked through when they float, and the wrapper is golden brown. Cut in half, or serve as is with dipping sauce. We like sweet and sour sauce, soy sauce with lemon, or banana ketchup.

Ingredients:
- 1 Kilo Beef Strips
- 1/2 Cup Garlic
- 1 Onion
- 1 Pack Knorr Cream of Corn
- 1 Can Corn Kernel
- 1 Can Sliced Mushroom
- 1/4 Kilo Potatoes (cut into strips)
- 1/2 Kilo Carrots (cut into strips)
- 1/2 Kilo Baguio Beans (cut into strips)
Toppings:
- 1 Box All Purpose Cream
- 3/4 Cup Milk
- 1/2 Cup Butter
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. Cornstarch (dissolve in milk)
Procedure:
- Tender beef strips. Separate beef strips and beef broth.
- Saute garlic nd onion. Pour beef strips, corn kernel nd mushroom including its water. Add 1 beef cube.
- In a separate pan, boil potatoes, carrots and baguio beans until half cooked. Drain from water. Fry it with 1/2 cup butter.
Topping Procedure:
- Over low fire, melt butter and all purpose cream. Pour cornstarch mix.
- Add 1 beef cube
Arrange in Pyrex
- Pour cooked beef in pyrex.
- Arrange vegetables on top.
- Distribute toppings evenly on top.
